COACHING
Coaching for greater clarity, confidence and direction

Coaching creates dedicated space to step back, think more clearly and explore what may be difficult to see while you are in the middle of it.
Â
Whether you are leading through complexity, navigating a change in your work or life, rebuilding confidence or considering what comes next, coaching can help you understand yourself more deeply and move forward with greater intention.
Â
MKM Psychology offers coaching commissioned by organisations as well as private coaching for individuals.
Coaching for organisations and leaders
Confidential, psychologically informed coaching for leaders, managers and professionals facing increased responsibility, change or complex workplace challenges.
Coaching for individuals
A thoughtful space to explore confidence, career, change, relationships, wellbeing or a wider sense of direction.
What is coaching?
Coaching is a collaborative and purposeful process that helps you think, learn and act. It is not about someone else having all the answers or telling you what to do. Instead, coaching creates space to slow down, explore your experiences and assumptions, recognise patterns and consider possibilities that may be difficult to access alone.
Â
A coach listens carefully, asks questions, offers appropriate challenge and helps you translate reflection into choices and actions that feel meaningful to you.
Â
Maria's approach also draws on business psychology and behavioural science, bringing greater depth to the exploration of confidence, strengths, relationships, behaviour and change.
Space to think
Step away from immediate demands and give sustained attention to something that matters.
Greater self-awareness
Recognise your strengths, values, assumptions and patterns, including those that may be helping or limiting you.
A different perspective
Examine a situation from new angles and become more aware of the choices available to you.
Confidence and self-trust
Develop a more grounded understanding of yourself and greater confidence in your own judgement.
Focused action
Turn reflection into realistic decisions, experiments and next steps.
Sustainable change
Understand what may need to shift beneath the surface, rather than relying only on short-term motivation.
The coaching approach
Warm and psychologically safe
Maria creates an environment in which you can speak openly, think aloud and explore uncertainty without feeling judged or rushed.
Supportive and appropriately challenging
Maria's style combines compassion with thoughtful challenge. She will support you while also inviting you to question assumptions, notice patterns and consider perspectives that may feel less familiar.
Psychologically informed
Maria draws on psychology, coaching practice and behavioural science to support deeper understanding, while keeping the coaching conversations accessible and relevant to your experience.
The Coaching Process
01
Introductory conversation
02
There will be an initial 30-minute conversation to discuss what has brought you to coaching, what you would like support with and whether Maria's approach feels right for you.
Agreeing the focus
03
Coaching sessions
04
Reflection and action
05
If you decide to work with Maria as your coach, part of the first session will focus on clarifying your initial goals, expectations, confidentiality and practical arrangements.
Sessions provide focused time to explore what is happening, develop insight and consider how you want to respond.
You may choose actions, experiments or reflective questions to explore between sessions. These are agreed collaboratively.
Review and completion
You and Maria will periodically review what is changing and how you would like to use the remaining sessions. Coaching concludes with reflection on your learning.
Coaching for organisations and leaders
Leadership can be rewarding, but it can also be complex and isolating. The more responsibility someone carries, the fewer opportunities they may have for open, uninterrupted reflection. Coaching gives leaders and professionals a confidential space to think about their role, relationships, impact and choices. It provides support without removing responsibility and challenge without judgement. The coaching is shaped around the individual, their role and the wider organisational environment in which they are working.
Leadership identity, confidence and impact
Developing greater confidence in a leadership role, understanding how others may experience you and leading in a way that feels both effective and authentic.
Transition and increased responsibility
Preparing for or adjusting to a more senior role, a broader remit, organisational change or a significant professional transition.
Relationships, communication and influence
Strengthening working relationships, communicating with greater clarity and influencing across different professional or organisational boundaries.
Difficult conversations and conflict
Preparing for conversations that require courage, managing emotional responses and approaching disagreement more constructively.
Change, complexity and uncertainty
Making thoughtful decisions, maintaining perspective and helping others navigate periods of ambiguity or disruption.
Resilience and sustainable performance
Understanding sources of pressure, strengthening personal resources and developing healthier ways of sustaining responsibility and performance.
Strengths and development
Recognising existing capabilities, using strengths more intentionally and identifying areas where different approaches may be needed.
Career direction and future choices
Exploring professional ambitions, potential next steps and what meaningful development or progression could look like.
Organisation-sponsored coaching
Organisation-sponsored coaching typically involves a three-way contracting conversation between the coach, the coachee and an organisational sponsor, such as line manager or HR lead, to ensure that coaching goals align with both individual development and organisational needs. While specific coaching conversations remain confidential, the coaching progress is reviewed against agreed developmental themes. This ensures clear boundaries and transparency for all parties involved.
Coaching for individuals
You do not need to have everything worked out before beginning coaching. You may be at a turning point, carrying significant responsibility or simply aware that something no longer feels quite right. You might appear capable and composed to others while privately feeling uncertain, stuck or disconnected from what you want. Personal coaching gives you time to understand what is happening beneath the surface, reconnect with what matters to you and decide how you want to move forward. Although some conversations begin with work, professional and personal lives do not exist in isolation. Coaching can make space for the wider person—including your relationships, boundaries, wellbeing, identity and hopes for the future.
Confidence and self-trust
Understanding self-doubt, developing a fairer relationship with yourself and feeling more able to trust your own judgement.
Career and professional direction
Exploring what you want from your working life, considering a change or making decisions about progression, purpose and fulfilment.
Change and life transitions
Navigating a period of uncertainty, adjustment or personal change with greater clarity and self-understanding.
Perfectionism and impostor feelings
Recognising the beliefs and expectations that keep you striving, overthinking or questioning whether you are good enough.
Relationships and boundaries
Understanding recurring patterns, communicating your needs more clearly and developing boundaries that reflect your values and wellbeing.
Pressure and wellbeing
Exploring how you respond to stress, what may be draining your energy and what a more sustainable way of living and working could involve.
Decisions and direction
Creating space to consider an important decision, clarify your priorities or explore what you want the next part of your life to look like.
Patterns and possibilities
Becoming more aware of familiar ways of thinking or behaving and experimenting with different responses.
